Continuing Medical Education
The
Department has organized a number of workshops and conferences for
continuing medical education. It has faculty, which is nationally
recognized for above purposes. It is a centre for training doctors in
Maternal & Child Health Diploma of Indira Gandhi Open University. It is
also an accredited unit for training doctors and nurses in newborn care.
The
Department has a well planned out teaching schedule for
MBBS
students (graduate course). In addition, it is one of the five
institutions imparting pre service training in integrated management of
neonatal and childhood illnesses (IMNCI).
At postgraduate level, Diploma in Child Health
(DCH)
and a Doctoral Degree (MD)
programs are being carried out.

Research Work
Every
year 3-4 MD candidates are registered who have their thesis work going
on. A number of papers are presented by the faculty every year at
various national conferences. The faculty has significant contribution
in publication of papers in national and international journals.
The department is a part of selected few institutions in a national
network for collecting neonatal and perinatal data. This is an ICMR
Project. The department is also participating in an international study
on asthma.
