CMC Ludhiana Recognised as an American Heart Association International Training Centre (ITC), advancing Excellence in Emergency Cardiovascular Care

Christian Medical College and Hospital, Ludhiana, is proud to announce its recent designation as an International Training Centre (ITC) by the American Heart Association (AHA)—a global leader in cardiovascular care, research, and education. This prestigious recognition marks a significant milestone in the institution’s continued commitment to clinical excellence, capacity-building, and the promotion of life-saving skills within both the medical fraternity and the broader community.

As an AHA-accredited ITC, CMC Ludhiana is now authorised to independently conduct internationally certified training programmes in Heart Saver and First Aid, Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), and related resuscitation courses. These training modules are delivered in strict accordance with the latest AHA guidelines and protocols, ensuring the highest global standards in emergency cardiovascular education.

Leadership and Oversight

This initiative is led by Dr. Mary John, Professor of Internal Medicine, who has been appointed as the Training Centre Coordinator (TCC). Under her expert leadership, the centre will ensure robust quality assurance, faculty development, and the consistent delivery of high-fidelity simulation-based training for healthcare professionals across disciplines.

Vision and Impact

The establishment of this International Training Centre at CMC Ludhiana embodies the institution’s enduring mission: “To serve the community through excellence in clinical care, medical education, and research, rooted in Christian values.” It further enhances the institution’s role as a regional hub for critical care education and strengthens the capacity of healthcare systems in Punjab and Northern India to respond effectively to cardiovascular emergencies.

Through this centre, CMC aims to:

  • Train physicians, nurses, paramedical staff, and students in evidence-based resuscitation science;
  • Promote widespread public awareness of cardiac life support;
  • Build a network of certified AHA instructors to scale up training outreach in underserved areas.

Looking Forward

In the coming months, the centre will launch regular AHA-accredited provider and instructor courses, making world-class resuscitation training more accessible to both healthcare professionals and community responders.

CMC Ludhiana remains deeply committed to cultivating a culture of preparedness, where timely, skilled intervention in life-threatening emergencies can transform outcomes and save lives.
