Overview

The Neurology department in CMC is a premier department engaged in clinical practice, community work, backed by clinical research.

Clinical work and research are supported by a comprehensive electrophysiology lab with digital Video EEG machine, NCS/EMG machine, AFT (Autonomic function Tests with provision for QSART, TST), sleep lab and a neuro-Cath lab.

Our research wing comprises of 15 qualified personnel responsible for coordinating and conducting various research projects funded by India Alliance (the Wellcome Trust/DBT, India), Indian Council Medical Research, DBT, World Federation of Neurology and NIH amongst others. The various clinical trials include those for Stroke, Alzheimer’s disease, multiple sclerosis and peripheral neuropathy.

The department boasts of world-renowned stroke specialists, Translational medicine scholars and researchers in neuromuscular diseases.

Beyond patient service and clinical research, we are also actively engaged in medical education having a highly sought after specialty DM course and undergraduate and postgraduate.

1. Comprehensive multidisciplinary management of stroke patients involving internationally renowned faculty along with Neurophysiotherapists, Occupational Therapist, and excellent stroke unit care
2. State of the art laboratory for autonomic function tests with facilities for Quantitative Sudomotor Axon Reflex Tests (QSART)/Thermoregulstory Sweat Test (TST), Electroencephalography (EEG), Nerve conduction studies (NCS), sleep study
3. Nine bedded Neuro ICU with constant monitoring facilities, personalized medical and nursing care and a 20 bedded general ward.
4. Neuro-intervention – Digital Subtraction Angiography (DSA) lab and facility for thrombectomy in acute stroke patients and coiling for aneurysms
5. The home rehabilitation program, rehab packages for patients with neurological disability
6. Botulinum toxin injection for patients with spasticity, dystonia and hemifacial/blepharospasm
