Blood transfusion has come a long way from a simple blood transfusion to a highly specialized transplant of live tissues like Red blood cells, Platelets, stem cells. The department of transfusion medicine is committed to providing the best therapeutic solution for the patients in terms of individualized and customized needs. The department comprises of a multidisciplinary team comprising physicians, technologists and support staff providing round the clock transfusion support services to all the patients at CMC Ludhiana.
We at the Blood bank at Christian Medical College and Hospital are committed to the safety of blood transfusion from vein to vein.
In the Blood bank, we also ensure standardized processes to ensure the safety of donors and patients during the collection, screening, processing, and storage of blood components. Last year we had about 10000 donors who donated blood in the hospital and in various blood donation camps around the city of Ludhiana.
100% of the blood we collect are converted into components – this helps rational usage and to maintain inventory.
