A college library is important to students as they can be a hub for education and learning.
The Christian Dental College Library came into existence to cater to the needs of the faculty and the student community who are members of the same. This air-conditioned Library is housed on two floors. The first floor has the property counter, the librarians’ counter, the reference section and the postgraduate section. The second floor houses the undergraduate, the reading, the medical photography and the audiovisual sections.
The library timings are from 9:00 am to 9:00pm on all week days, 9:00 am to 5:00 pm on Saturdays and remains closed on Sundays. Besides the comfortable seating and the mellow environment suited for reading, the students can also avail facilities such as the photocopy service, computer/internet access, printing, scanning, read-only CDs.
The goal of the CDC library is to acquire, manage, provide and propagate information regarding health sciences to the students and the faculty of the college.
Library Resources :
The library has a collection of books covering all of the elementary categories: basic sciences, dental materials, specialities of dentistry, dental hygiene, dental machinery and essential materials for postgraduate – national and foreign – entrance examinations.
Journals (print and online), periodicals and dissertations are also available here.
Services :

Reference Services :
The library staff provides a personal aid to the members by assisting in interpreting the library collection for study and research. The library staff help the members to locate information from the available information sources, including the central library of CMC.

The library provides photocopies of articles from journals and textbooks to the members as per need or demand.
Computer Services :
The computer section offers the members services such as internet browsing facilities, access to online journals, facilities for preparing presentation materials like PowerPoint slides, transparencies and colour scanning.
The staff also offers assistance to the students and faculty, in editing projects/theses, data analysis, setting the file to the required quality of print, CD writing and printing.
CD-ROM Services :
The CD-ROM collection of the library contains wholesome databases which include a vast number of volumes of medical journals, articles and textbooks.
Current Awareness Services :
The library enables its users to be updated about the most recent advances in the various branches of health sciences by procuring and displaying the latest books/journals and making them available for reference purposes.
Department Libraries :
The department libraries function under the central control of the main library in order to carry out the routine hospital work, meet the post graduate requirements, and immediate/routine references.
